Student Welfare and Support

STUDENT WELFARE

MERC Education believes in providing a quality service which encompasses both academic and student welfare. We are aware and appreciative of the problems that all students may face during their studies with us. For our international students, this may mean adapting to a new way of life, overcoming culture shock and minimising problems associated with living in a foreign country for the first time. We will make every effort to deal with all students’ problems quickly and with compassion. Our administrative staff members have been trained to deal with these problems courteously and effectively.

Academic Support, Evaluation & Validation

Student Support All students enrolled on our courses will automatically be assigned a tutor. The tutor will be responsible for your academic welfare. Working closely with your tutor is an important aspect of your academic development. It is also our means of finding out, at an early stage of your studies, what difficulties including study methods and revision techniques you may have. Your tutor will also co-ordinate with our Faculty staff to arrange remedial work where necessary.

During the course of your studies, you will also have opportunities to evaluate your lecturers and to help us assess their performance on their recommended textbooks, class course materials, punctuality, fairness in assessing assignments, marking examination papers and knowledge impartation. This feedback is an essential element of our control and service improvement to you.

Mindful of its duties and responsibilities, our value-for-money services and course offerings are student’s utility-centred. Moreover, MERC is at present accredited accredited by the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED), the Institute of Administrative Management (IAM) and the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) . Further institutional memberships, affiliations and accreditation are under consideration by MERC Education.
